The Tom Mboya University Scientific and Ethics Review Committee (TMU-SERC) stands as a cornerstone of the University’s commitment to responsible innovation.
Tom Mboya University has established an Institutional Scientific and Ethics Review Committee known as the Tom Mboya University Scientific and Ethics Review Committee (TMU-SERC). The primary role of TMU-SERC is to protect the rights, safety, and well-being of all human participants in research and to ensure that animals used in research are treated humanely.

In a significant milestone for the University’s research infrastructure, TMU-SERC was formally instituted following a comprehensive training and sensitization workshop conducted on 3rd and 4th March 2026. This event marked the transition of the Committee into a fully operational body ready to facilitate high-level research.
TMU-SERC operates under the regulatory oversight of the National Commission for Science, Technology, and Innovation (NACOSTI). The Committee is composed of ten (10) members drawn from diverse academic and professional disciplines, ensuring independence and objectivity.
